  3. Fad diets are detrimental to one’s health versus a healthy diet that improves one’s health. Fad diets promise fast weight loss by restricting certain foods and by following certain rules that could affect one’s overall health. Whether it’s over exercising or under eating, fad diets can set a person into a downward spiral with their health. They could develop more health problems because they are avoiding certain necessary foods because they think that they are “bad” for losing weight. A healthy diet behavior encourages a wide variety of healthy foods with a minimal restriction of sugars and refined carbohydrates. This healthy routine promotes sustainable weight loss and promotes keeping the weight off over a prolonged period of time, rather than losing the weight quickly and putting it on again when a person returns to their normal eating habits.
